Papa Minnick discovered wood as a medium for sculpture late in her undergraduate studies. She crafted the following series that was showcased at ASU’s Step Gallery. They are carved, bent, joined, and painted anthropomorphized wood sculptures. A playful take on body image and vulnerability, they embrace the quirky or tender aspects of physicality with names like Big Bellied Bark and Rosy Rumped Roots.
